Garment Making Course Description

The DENNIS COUTURE INSTITUTE is a practical and creative program designed to equip students with the essential skills needed to transform fashion ideas into professionally finished garments.

This course introduces learners to the complete garment construction process—from understanding fabrics and taking accurate body measurements to pattern drafting, cutting, sewing, fitting, and finishing. Students will gain hands-on experience using industrial and domestic sewing machines while mastering both hand and machine stitching techniques.

Through guided projects and studio practice, learners will develop confidence in constructing various garments such as skirts, blouses, dresses, trousers, and traditional wear. Emphasis is placed on quality workmanship, precision, and attention to detail to meet industry standards.

In addition to technical skills, the course nurtures creativity, problem-solving, and professional work ethics. Students are encouraged to experiment with design ideas while learning how to meet client needs and production timelines.

By the end of the course, learners will be able to:

  • Draft and interpret basic patterns

  • Select and prepare appropriate fabrics

  • Construct and assemble garments accurately

  • Apply professional finishing techniques

  • Fit and alter garments for different body types

  • Present completed work confidently

This course serves as a strong foundation for careers in fashion design, tailoring, costume making, and fashion entrepreneurship, preparing students to excel in both local and global fashion industries.
